Product description
The origins of the cocktail date back to the 19th century, to the time of the war between the United States and Spain: according to some sources after the sinking of the ship the Maine – in the port of Havana - a marine disembarked in a village near Santiago de Cuba, specifically in Daiquiri. Here, in order to quench his thirst, he went into a shack which doubled up as a bar. After refusing to drink a straight rum, he had lime juice added to it and then corrected it further with some sugar. That is how Daiquiri came into being, one of the favourite cocktails of the writer Ernest Hemingway.
